As of June 1st, 2018 Recycle BC will accept flexible soft plastic packaging

 at the Hartland Landfill as part of a pilot project.

The following websites are a great starting point to find what you can do with items that normally can't be placed in the Blue Boxes at the curb.

  • CRD recycling website  www.myrecyclopedia.ca

    • This amazing gem will ​give you answer to all your questions. Type in a product and it will tell you how to properly recycle it or dispose of it, where to take it to and ideas on how to Reduce and Reuse. Plus there's always a nice tid-bit of history on the products.

  • Pacific Mobile Depot     http://pmdrecycling.com/ 

    • This company has one of the most complete plastics recycling service in Greater Victoria & Metro Vancouver. They have 7 mobile depot locations in Greater Victoria, and have expanded with 4 more mobile depot locations in Metro Vancouver.

    • The mobile depots are hosted by non-profit groups/communities as a fundraising event. Residents can bring in their sorted/unsorted plastics to the depots for a small fee to help the hosting organization.

    • Their Main Depot and Drop off point is located at 6215 Marilyn Rd (off Sooke River Rd), Sooke, BC. and they are open Tuesday to Thursday  8am – 4pm, Friday 9am – 1pm, and the 2nd & 4th Saturday of Every Month from 1:30pm – 4:30pm.

    • Mobile Depots take place the 2nd Saturday of every month from 9am until Noon at the following locations:

  • Ellice Recycle   http://ellicerecycle.com/ 

    • Ellice Recycling is your one-stop shop for everything! They have a great recycling and waste management facility for everything including metals​, commercial yard waste, construction materials, safety equipment, and so much more!

    • Their website offers a search function similar to myrecyclopedia.ca to make it easy for you.

  • The Bottle Depot  www.bottledepot.ca

    • This is the place to take all your household items including soft plastics, Styrofoam containers, light bulbs, small appliances, batteries, and electronics. Just make sure that your plastics and containers are clean and dry before dropping them off. And of course, don't forget to bring all your beverage containers!
