Vancouver Island Refillery
Vancouver Island Refillery is a Planet over Profit company managed by VI Sustainability Association - a group of dedicated individuals with a mission to reduce the amount of single use items that end up in our landfills and oceans. By creating awareness of a more mindful and sustainable lifestyle, and encouraging a change in consumer behaviour, we hope to make Nanaimo more environmentally friendly one refill at a time.
Paula & Nairn started their Zero Waste in Victoria when they opened Vancouver Island's first Zero Waste grocery store - Zero Waste Emporium! Over the 3 years of running ZWE they worked closely with the community and local government to change consumer habits and helped with the introduction of Zero Waste policies into the city's mandates and bylaws.
Transitioning from Zero Waste Emporium, Paula & Nairn opened Vancouver Island Refillery in Nanaimo to continue the same standards and traditions of empowering the community to reduce waste and live cleaner and healthier lives, while protecting the environment that surrounds us.
